What aspects of a sheep/goat project are covered at Champions Choice Camps?
Champions Choice Camps prides ourselves on covering your project from start to finish. Aspects to be covered at camp include: animal handling, showmanship, nutrition and health, practice strategies, fitting, and marketing.
What age of camper is best suited for Champions Choice Camps?
Any youth, ages 5-21, are welcome to attend Champions Choice Camps.
Are parents/guardians/grandparents/4-H or FFA advisors etc. able to attend Champions Choice Camps with their camper? Yes! We welcome and encourage parents/guardians/grandparents/4-H or FFA advisors etc. to attend with their camper as it is a learning opportunity for all involved in the livestock project.
How do I register for the Champions Choice Camp of my interest?
All registrations and payments are to be completed online using the 2025 Registration Form. If you are interested in registering for the camp held in conjunction with Great Plains Jr. Breeding Sheep Show, in South Dakota, you must register on the Showman APP, simply search Great Plains Jr. Breeding Show. Registration for Great Plains typically opens in April.
When is the deadline to register for the Champions Choice Camp of my interest?
We encourage participants to register as soon as possible. Registration is on a first come, first serve basis. Some locations reach capacity and we are not able to add additional spots due to spacing. If a location still has availability, registration will remain available for purchase. Registrations purchased within 30 days of camp are full price ($250) and do not guarantee a camp t-shirt or swag bag.
What does the registration fee cover?
The fee covers attendance to camp, a camp t-shirt, a swag bag, lunch and drinks for the registered camper.
Do I have to pre purchase an adult meal ticket or can I pay the day of camp?
We encourage you to pre-purchase your meal ticket online for the purpose of meal counts. However, we know circumstances change, so we do offer a limited amount to be purchased the day of camp.
What does the camp schedule look like?
8:15 am - Arrival
8:30 am - Check-In Begins
9:00 am - Camp Starts
Noon - Lunch
6:00 pm - Camp Ends
Will there be sessions throughout the day for parents to learn as well?
Yes! We encourage parents to attend with their camper as there are parent sessions, camper sessions and combined sessions for all to learn about the various aspects of the livestock project.
What is the dress code for Champions Choice Camps?
Please come in appropriate footwear for camp. We suggest Tennis Shoes, Twisted X, Leather or Versatile shoe options. Please refrain from wearing tall rubber boots, bulky boots, rain boots or flip flop/sandals/crocs. In addition, we ask for campers to be dressed in jeans that are appropriate fitting and appropriate length and wearing a shirt with sleeves.
What do I need to bring to camp with me?
Below is a list of items that will be needed for the day:
• Your animal, that is in good health! Please refer to the next question for those recommendations.
• Out of state animals should have health papers per livestock transport laws.
• Feed, feeder, water, water bucket, hay, etc. that your animal will need for the day.
• Cool, dry trailer space as it is expected to work off your trailer for the day.
• Halter and/or show chains for your animal, nylon halters are preferred. Chain halters and/or show chains may be used if the animal is halter broke.
• Fitting stand, optional.
• Lawn chairs for the camper and spectators who may be attending with them.
• A willing to learn mindset and a great attitude!
I want to ensure my animal is in good health to attend Champions Choice Camps, what are the recommendations?
Travel can definitely be stressful on young sheep and goats. We want the animals attending camp to be in good health, in order to maximize the learning opportunities at camp. We recommend the following:
My lamb/goat is sick/ill, can I still attend Champions Choice Camp?
If your lamb or goat is sick, please contact us at [email protected] to discuss alternative plans.
I do not have my show animals for the year yet, am I still able to attend a Champions Choice Camp?
Champions Choice Camps believes it is in the best interest of the camper to bring their own animal. Throughout the camp day, campers work hands-on with their animals and camp staff to work-through any pre-existing issues. However, we recognize some ownership dates may be beyond camp dates and thus, a loaner animal is needed. Please contact us at [email protected] to discuss alternative plans.
Can I leave my animals on the grounds/in the facility the night before/after camp if I am traveling from out of town?
Overnight accommodations for animals to stay on the facility grounds will require an email request submission at least 2 weeks prior to camp.
What is the refund policy for Champions Choice Camps?
All online sales with Champions Choice Camps are final. In the event of an emergency and you are not able to attend camp, please email us prior to camp at [email protected] so arrangements can be made with you.
For cancellations more than 6 weeks prior to camp we offer the following:
• Transfer to another location
• Credit for 2026 Camp or
• A Refund (minus processing fees)
For cancellations less than 6 weeks prior to camp, we offer the following:
• Transfer to another location
• Credit for 2026 Camp
• 50% Refund
NOTE: No Call, No Show will not merit refund or transfer.

- Lambs should be at least 65 lbs.
- Goats should be at least 40 lbs.
- Rough shorn within 30 days of camp.
- Normal body temperature within the 101.3 to 103.5 range.
- No signs or symptoms of sore mouth, fungus, and/or lice.
- On feed, with an aggressive appetite.
